Presidents Letter

I think spring is finally here!!!! Spring seems to bring a new energy with it, I'm finding new enthusiasm about our upcoming projects and changes that are on the horizon. As you've all heard me talking about, we will be welcoming a new board into office in July, and we'll be nominating those we think will make great contributions to the club this month.
I have to say, personally, that volunteering for the MOMS Club has been an amazing, truly rewarding experience. Of course it's got it's ups and downs, but knowing that I'm helping such a great group of people and our community is invaluable. I believe that each of us has something we can bring to the club to make it a better experience, make it YOUR club. Even if you don't want to volunteer to be on the board, consider volunteering in other ways - be a chair MOM, host an activity, plan a field trip, offer to help on a committee. There are so many ways we can offer each other support, and MOMS Club is the perfect tool to do so!
I've really enjoyed being the president of this group this year, aside from motherhood, it's been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences (making any group of 28 women happy is a challenge). I'll miss it dearly next year, but I think everyone has something amazing to offer our group, and I'm sure whomever is on the board next year will bring new and exciting things! So please, consider what role you want to play next year, the more involved you are, the more you'll get out of the club.

Thanks!
Heather

Garage Sale Time
---Mark your Calendars---

Spring has sprung and I'm sure most of us are lookig forward to doing some much needed spring cleaning!

While cleaning, keep in mind the MOMS Club garage sale wich will take place May 20 - 21. The garage sale benefits the MOM 2 MOM fund which exists to help MOMS Club members in clubs across the country who are facing financial hardship.

Plan a Pizza Garden!

1. Divide an 8-foor circle into equal-sized "slices", one for each type of plant. Difine the slices and the entire garden with bricks, plastic edging or another material.
2. Purchase one roma tomato plant, three sweet basil plants, one oregano plant, a dosen onions sets (sweet onions), three green or red pepper plants, three jalapeno plants, one thyme plant and two parsley plants. Place the tomato plant in the northernmost slice so it won't steal the sun from shorter plants, then plant the remaining ingredients in the other slices.
3. Water well, then apply a 2-inch layer of mulch to supress weeds and converse moisture. Straw mimics shredded cheese on the garden "pizza"
4. Continue to water and weed the garden. In two months, kids can harvest the veggies and herbs, then hekp cook the suce and add the pizza toppings. The whole family can pitch in by eating the finished product!
