Best thing about school: My favorite part is the curriculum. It is an excellent preparation for kindergarten. The teachers are the best.

Worst thing about school: My least favorite is the entrance time but you can get used to that (too early in the morning or lunch time).

Teacher qualifications: All teachers have a Michigan Teaching Certificate with an Early Childhood Endorsement.

Typical daily routine: They come in and each one is responsible for hanging their coats and backpacks, they do circle time twice, letter hunt, they have 5 different stations to visit( I don't remember the names)... messy art, letters, creative play..., they have the same snack together at 3 different tables, they go outside and play most of the time.

Philosophy that informs curriculum: From the website: The district is able to provide a free preschool experience for a limited number of eligible four-year-old children within the district. The costs for these programs are covered by state and federal grants. The program runs from September through the first week in June and is currently held at Hulsing Elementary School. The National Academy of Early Childhood Programs accredits the program which means it is nationally recognized for its high quality.

Opportunities for parent involvement: This is a free preschool so you are required to volunteer in the classroom once a month.

Discipline: Since there are 3 and often more teachers in the classroom this is handled very well without interrupting the activity being done at the time.

Building and play space information: Classrooms inside Hulsing Elementary, they use the school playground which is shared by all the preschool classrooms. I've seen about 3 groups out at the same time but it is a huge space.
