Class size: 20 kids with 2 teachers

Best thing about school: the entire staff know me and my kids. The boys love the sprayscape and soccer field they have in the "back yard". There is a "young fives" class that really focuses on kindergarten readiness. The teacher is very good about telling kids "when you are in kindergarten...."

Worst thing about school: the cost and the fact that I even need full day care

Teacher qualifications: Various - most are CDAs.

Typical daily routine: Breakfast/free play until 9 am. School starts at 9, with the usual, circle time/calendar/show and tell/outdoor and indoor playscapes. Preschool ends and then lunch is at noon, nap 12:30-2:30.

Philosophy that informs curriculum: They are very big on love and comfort and the kids feeling safe. Many mornings you see kids in teacher's lap or being carried and held until they are comfortable. (usually my kid)

Opportunities for parent involvement: as much or as little as needed

Discipline: Time outs, apologies--repeat offenders get sent to the "office" to see Miss Rosey. (insert scary music here)

Building and play space information: The building is great, very clean and colorfully decorated. They have an indoor playscape for rainy/-10 degree days. Outside: last summer they planted a garden; an playscape with shaded sand box and rubbery mat surface (NO woodchips), a soccer field and a sprinkler park. The kids take nature walks around the back.
