Plymouth Canton Schools-Stay and Play program Overall rating by 1 member: 9 Class size: 10 children per class-my experience Best thing about school: Ability to share the first formalized school experience with my 2 year old; the "friendliness" factor of both teachers was great. Worst thing about school: The space can get tight with 10 adults & toddlers sharing space--but it was not that big of a deal--that's all I could think of as a negative. Teacher qualifications: Teacher has cerification to teach pre school in Plymouth Canton school district. Para professional also in class. Both had taught program for many years. Typical daily routine: Upon arrival, coats hung up, get name tag from teacher, open play, circle time to go over hello song/names/day/weather/color and art activities for the day, open play, snack time with book reading by teacher, outside play (weather permitting) and good bye song. Philosophy that informs curriculum: Plymouth Canton Schools follows the curriculum to prepare child for kindergarten. Opportunities for parent involvement: Parent attends with child and present for duration of class. Rotate bringing snack/juice and can attend field trips with child. Discipline: Re-direct toddler to another activity, remind them of sharing, taking turns and getting in line for wash up, etc. Building and play space information: Regular classroom size contains different play areas such as puzzles, play table, reading, trucks, kitchen, dress up, and tables for hands on crafts and snack. Large tunnel and climbing toys are brought out also at different times. All toddlers offered snack and drink (small dixie type cups);great for practicing use of cups. Parents rotate bringing snack. |
